Dodgers' rally comes up short against Rockies

KEY MOMENT: The Dodgers were roaring back from a six-run deficit in the seventh inning when Adam Ottavino replaced Nick Masset on the mound for the Rockies. The Rockies' lead was down to 8-6 and the Dodgers had the bases loaded with no outs. Ottavino got Juan Uribe to ground into a double play on which Hanley Ramirez scored to reduce to margin to 8-7. But Ottavino intentionally walked Andre Ethier and struck out A.J. Ellis.

AT THE PLATE: Ramirez and Yasiel Puig each was two for five with two runs and a double. Ramirez drove in two runs and Puig one. Ellis was one for two with a double and two walks. Dee Gordon stole his 42nd base, which leads the majors.

ON THE MOUND: Dan Haren made his worst start of the season, giving up eight runs and 10 hits over 5 1/3 innings. Jamey Wright, J.P. Howell and Brandon League combined to pitch 2 2/3 innings.

THE LINEUP CARD: Even with the Dodgers facing a left-hander in Jorge De La Rosa, Manager Don Mattingly started the left-handed-hitting Ethier in center field instead of the right-handed-hitting Scott Van Slyke. The reason: Van Slyke is 0 for 12 against De La Rosa.

UP NEXT: Josh Beckett (5-5, 2.37 ERA) will face the Rockies and Yohan Flande (0-1, 6.10) at Coors Field on Sunday at 1 p.m. PDT. On the air: TV: SportsNet LA. Radio: 570, 1020 (Spanish).
