The Clippers won the final game of their eight-game trip, snapping a four-game losing streak with a 115-98 win over the injury-depleted Dallas Mavericks on Monday.
They led by 16 points in the third quarter before their advantage was cut to five, 83-78, with 3 minutes 41 seconds remaining. Then the Clippers went on an 11-2 run to take a 14-point lead into the fourth, 94-80.
The Clippers held control in the fourth, pushing their lead to as many as 20 points.
It was an important win for a team that had been slumping, and had learned Monday that Blake Griffin was expected to miss at least three weeks after having surgery earlier in the day to remove a staph infection from his right elbow.
In Griffin's absence, DeAndre Jordan had a huge game, finishing with career-high 27 rebounds and a season-high 22 points, his second 20-20 performance this month, and in his career. It was the most rebounds by an NBA player this season.
Chris Paul had 25 points and 13 assists, and Jamal Crawford added 22 points. J.J. Redick, in his first game back after missing three because of back spasms, had 15 points. Spencer Hawes, who had 17 points against Oklahoma City on Sunday while starting in place of Griffin, finished with only four Monday in his second such opportunity.
After being outrebounded, 54-29, in Sunday's 131-108 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Clippers bested the Mavericks on the boards, 53-47. They also outshot the Mavericks, 44.6% to 40.7%, and had only six turnovers while the Mavericks had 12.
The Clippers (34-19) concluded their "Grammy" trip with a record of 3-5. They are in sixth place in the Western Conference, a half game behind the fifth-place Mavericks (35-19). The last time these teams played, the Clippers beat the Mavericks on Jan. 10, 120-100.
The Mavericks were seriously short-handed Monday, playing without injured point guard Rajon Rondo and then losing shooting guard Monta Ellis, their leading scorer, and center Tyson Chandler to injuries early in the first quarter.
The Clippers were to return home Monday evening after two weeks on the road and will host the Houston Rockets on Wednesday before taking off from Feb. 12-18 for the All-Star break.
