A 1-year-old boy who was abducted after a violent stabbing at his mother's San Pedro home was found in Mexico late Monday night, authorities said.
The U.S. Marshals Service located Jayden Nathaniel Santiago in Tijuana, said Officer Jane Kim of the Los Angeles Police Department. No other details were immediately available.
The California Highway Patrol canceled the amber alert shortly after 9:15 p.m. after the gray Nissan Altima driven by the boy's father, Giovany Santiago-Enriquez, was located in Mexico. It's unclear if Santiago-Enriquez was arrested.
Jayden was abducted by his father, Giovany Santiago-Enriquez, 37, about 1:30 a.m. Monday from his mother's home, according to the CHP.
Santiago-Enriquez went to his-girlfriend's home, attacked her and stabbed her new boyfriend, authorities said. He took Jayden, whom he has legal custody over, and fled the home.
Police say Santiago-Enriquez has made suicidal threats and has attempted suicide in the past.
Santiago-Enriquez was initially believed to be traveling to Washington state, Oregon or Mexico.
